East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 10th February, 2020: Stakeholders from across the coffee value chain will gather in Mombasa, Kenya from February 11-14, 2020 for the regionβs pre-eminent coffee event.
The EAC Coffee Business Forum - organised jointly with the African Fine Coffee Conference & Exhibition - is financed by the European Union through the MARKUP programme. It will feature a week of interactive discussions, workshops and networking events.

EAC readies to deploy Election Observer Mission to Burundi General Elections slated for May 2020
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 10th February, 2020: The EAC Secretariat has concluded a one week Electoral Consultative Mission to the Republic of Burundi.
The EAC delegation, led by EAC Secretary General, Amb. Liberat Mfumukeko, held consultative meetings with various key stakeholders including the National Electoral Commission (CENI), various Ministries including Home Affairs and Security, as well as political parties registered in Burundi.
The broad objective of the meetings was to consult with stakeholders and prepare the ground for the deployment of the EAC Electoral Observer Mission ahead of the May 2020 General Election in Burundi.

UN pledges support to Burundi in attaining peaceful, credible and democratic elections
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 6th February, 2020: The United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Africa, Ms. Bintou Keita, has expressed the United Nationβs desire for peaceful, credible and democratic elections in Burundi.
Ms. Keita made the statement Tuesday during a meeting with the EAC Secretary General, Amb. Liberat Mfumukeko, in Bujumbura, Burundi, adding that peaceful elections in Burundi were a prerequisite for political stability in the nation and the region as a whole.
