Restrictions on the freedoms and rights under the EAC Common Market Protocol.

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 31st July, 2025: The East African Community (EAC) Secretariat wishes to address recent developments regarding restrictions on the freedoms and rights under the EAC Common Market Protocol.

Since the adoption of the EAC Common Market Protocol, Partner States have committed to fostering regional integration by removing barriers to trade, services, and investment, and to refrain from introducing unilateral measures that hinder the free movement and establishment rights of citizens and businesses across the region.

EAC Secretary General concludes official visit to Uganda with ket strategic engagements

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 23rd July, 2025: The Secretary General of the East African Community (EAC), Hon. Veronica Nduva, concluded a three-day official visit to the Republic of Uganda, marked by high-level engagements aimed at strengthening regional integration and enhancing cooperation.

During the visit, the Secretary General, paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House in Entebbe. The two discussed key regional integration priorities, including the need for deeper cooperation among EAC Partner States.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS, POSTERS AND EXHIBITIONS

Introduction

The Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) in collaboration with Mwalimu Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MNUAT), Maasai Mara University (Mmara-U) and the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) is pleased to announce a call for papers, posters and exhibitions for the 14th Mara Day Scientific Conference. This conference themed “Protect Mara River: Preserve Life,” will take place on September 14, 2025 at MNUAT, Butiama District in the United Republic of Tanzania. We invite researchers, students, the private sector and government officials from the East African Community member states—Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC Congo, and Somalia—as well as international researchers focused on the Mara Basin Ecosystem, to contribute their insights on issues related to the Mara River through conservation.

Conference Theme: “Protect Mara River: Preserve Life”

Conference Sub-themes
  1. Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management to foster Sustainable Development in Mara River Basin;
  2. Cross-Border Cooperation, Policy Implementation, and Conflict Resolution through community-based and gender mainstreaming approaches for River Basin management; and
  3. Innovative Technologies for addressing emerging threats within the Mara River Basin.

  4. Standard Poster templates will be shared
  5. Abstract body

Please ensure the abstract has: a brief introduction, gap, main objectives, methodology, findings/results, conclusions and recommendations of the study (maximum 350 words).

NB; There should be NO citations in the abstracts.
