East African Community, Arusha, Tanzania, 12th March 2021: The East African Community (EAC), in collaboration with women organizations, and financial support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH through the Support to Market Driven and People’s Centred Integration (SEAMPEC) programme, commemorated the international women’s day 2021 virtually under the theme “Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World” with the Campaign Theme being: #ChooseToChallenge.
EAC staff, EALA members, representatives from EACJ, apex bodies of the Regional Dialogue Committee, GIZ staff, women rights associations in the region and EAC Youth Ambassadors, attended the virtual meeting.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 9th March 2021: As part of the International Women's Day celebrations, on 8th March 2021; the Kenyan government, in partnership with the East African Community, launched the 50 Million African Women Speak Project Networking Platform from the Kenya School of Government (KSG), Kabete Campus, Nairobi.
The online platform is intended to support women empowerment initiatives by providing African Women Entrepreneurs with access to critical information on financial and non-financial services and providing opportunities for business networks among African Women Entrepreneurs.

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 9th March, 2021:The EAC Secretariat together with various partners including EAC staff from all Organs and Institutions, Civil Society Organizations, Private Sector Organizations and International organizations will mark the 2021 International Women's Day on Friday 12th March,2021.
The overall objective of the event is to provide a platform for dialogue on the EAC commitments to promoting women in leadership in the East African Community Secretariat, Partner States and its integration agenda/processes.
East African Community ,Arusha ,Tanzania, 27th November, 2020: The East African Women in Business Platform (EAWiBP), in collaboration with the EAC Secretariat, and financial support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH through the Intra-Regional Trade Facility Initiative (IRTF), successfully launched the project Value Addition for Increased Market Access in the Moringa Sector in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The 25th to 27th November, 2020 training workshop included women in the moringa value chain from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda on branding, packaging, and standard certification.
East African Community ,Arusha ,Tanzania, 23rd November, 2020: Retired Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete has called upon the youth in the region to seize the moment and show leadership in politics, business sector, sports and the arts among other fields.
President Kikwete said that digital age has made today’s youth a more lucky generation than any other saying that technology and information had made it possible for them to undertake tasks from anywhere including holding virtual meetings.
Arusha. Tanzania, November 12, 2020: Ten thousand young people from across the six East African Community Partner States will next week gather at the EAC headquarters in Arusha and six capitals in the region to discuss issues pertinent to the regional development agenda.
The 23rd to 27th November, 2020 event dubbed the YouLead Summit, is East Africa’s flagship Youth Leadership Development Program seeking to unlock youth leadership potential for a prosperous region. It is hosted by the East African Community (EAC) and MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS TCDC) in Arusha, Tanzania.

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 28th August, 2020: The East African Community has kicked-off national launches of the 50 Million African Women Speak Networking Platform (50MAWS), a digital platform aimed at empowering millions of women in Africa to start, grow and scale up their businesses.
Gracing the national launch for the United Republic of Tanzania at the Karimjee Hall, in Dar es Salaam, Hon. Ummy Mwalimu, Minister of Minister of Health, Community Development, Gender, Seniors and Children, said the government of Tanzania has received the project, and was happy to embrace the initiative to further enable women to connect, network and transact business.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 24h July, 2020: The East African Community in partnership with Arusha City Council conducted a community service on 24th July 2020 at Maweni Primary and Mkonoo Secondary Schools in Terat Ward, Arusha, Tanzania.
The event earlier as part of the celebration of the International Women’s Day 2020 themed “#EachforEqual” could not take place in March due to the outbreak of Covid-19. The event featured the donation of sanitary pads to about 600 students and created awareness on menstrual hygiene and benefits as well as the opportunities of East African Community Integration.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 30th May, 2020: The apex bodies of the private sector and civil society organizations met on 29th May, 2020 through the virtual tool, MS TEAMS.
The half-day meeting, which was attended by representatives of the East African Civil Society Organizations Forum (EACSOF), the East Africa Law Society (EALS), the East African Local Government Association (EALGA) and the East African Health Platform (EAHP) discussed joint Covid-19 responses of these apex bodies to mitigate the virus, which has impacted the entire world including the EAC region.
