
The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), in partnership with the East African Community (EAC), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), is pleased to announce the launch of the Creating Opportunities for Youth and Women in Africa (COYWA) Training Program.
This initiative is part of the AUDA-NEPAD Social Development Cluster and contributes to the AU Agenda 2063 vision of empowering Africa’s youth and women as key drivers of socio-economic transformation and inclusive growth.
About the Training
The COYWA Training Program provides certified training (certificate of attendance and competence-based) in Financial Literacy and Digital Literacy for young Africans. The program will enhance participants’ entrepreneurial capacity, employability, and socio-economic inclusion through practical, skills-based learning.
Phase 1 Training Details
- Dates: 8 – 14 September 2025
- Location: Lusaka, Zambia
- Format: Combination of participatory workshops, group projects, role-plays, simulations, and case studies
- Modules Covered:
- Financial Literacy: Budgeting, saving, income management, banking & mobile money, avoiding scams
- Digital Literacy: Digital devices, online communication, productivity tools, mobile money, online safety, and user experience design
Eligibility Criteria
- Young people aged 18 – 34 years from African Union Member States
- 60% of participants will be female and 40% male
- Interest in entrepreneurship, digital innovation, financial inclusion, or community development
- Ability to participate fully in the training program in English (2025 pilot year)
