The Mini-Summit of Heads of States and Governments on Peace and Security in Eastern DRC
23rd November, 2022: The Mini-Summit of Heads of States and Governments on Peace and Security in Eastern DRC was held in Luanda, Angola on November 23, 2022. It was convened by President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, African Union Champion for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa and Mediator designated to maintain the dialogue between the DRC and Rwanda, to address the ongoing conflict and insecurity in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The Mini Summit was attended by His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic of Burundi and current Chair Person of the East African Community (EAC), His Excellency Felix-Antoine Tchisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, His Excellency Vincent Biruta, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Affairs of the Republic of Rwanda, representing His Excellency Paul Kagame, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, Former President of the Republic of Kenya and Facilitator appointed by the EAC for the Implementation of the implementation of the Nairobi process as well as representatives of the African Union and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
