EACRF hosts European Union (EU) Delegation at the Headquarters in Goma
The East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) on Monday, 26th June 2023 hosted a delegation from the European Union (EU) at the Headquarters in Goma, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The Force Commander (FC) Major General Aphaxard Kiugu, in the company of key Staff Officers, received the delegation led by the Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Democratic Republic of Congo Mrs. Matilda Schedwin.
The FC appraised the EU delegates on the EACRF posture in the Joint Operations Area, the current security situation, milestones, projections and challenges EACRF is facing.
Mrs. Schedwin appreciated the milestones registered by EACRF since deployment in Eastern DRC & expressed optimism that with the ongoing tracks, goodwill from all actors & essential support, the peace & stability efforts in Eastern DRC is on course.
The two sides deliberated on possible areas of support towards actualizing the mandate of the EACRF. The meeting is part of the ongoing EACRF engagements with key players towards consolidation efforts in the ongoing peace and stability process in Eastern DRC.
