Mr. Muyambi Fortunate is the Acting Executive Secretary of the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO), an institution of the East African Community. He is also a Principal Officer-Innovation, Technology Development, and Acquisition at EASTECO. Mr Muyambi promotes and coordinates the development, management, and application of Science and Technology to support regional integration and socio-economic development in EAC Region.   

With EASTECO Mr. Muyambi is at the forefront of coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders from the East African Community (EAC) Partner States to formulate and implement regional science and technology initiatives including regional programmes, policy and strategy development in Science, Technology and Innovation for socio-economic development and regional integration. He is passionate about nurturing the innovation potential of the Eastern Africa region. Mr. Muyambi Fortunate championed the development of EAC Regional STI Policy and EAC Regional Intellectual Property Policy and Eastern African Regional Bioeconomy Strategy.

Mr. Muyambi holds a Master’s degree in Environment and Natural Resources Management majoring in GIS and Remote Sensing applications, a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry and a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management.

He has worked with IGAD Climate Prediction and Application Centre (ICPAC)-Kenya, USAID-Uganda and Ministry of Water and Environment-Uganda. He has also worked as a consultant with UNDP-Uganda, UNDP-Tanzania, UNDP-Swaziland, UNDP-Ethiopia, UNDP-Liberia, World Bank-Uganda and EU-Malawi.
