INTRODUCTION

The East African Health Research Commission (EAHRC) is an institution of the East African Community (EAC) established by EAC Heads of State on 18th June, 2007 as a mechanism for making available to the community, advice upon all matters of health and health related research and findings necessary for knowledge generation, technological development, policy formulation, practices and related matters. EAHRC is the principal advisory institution to the EAC on health Research and Development (R&D). The overall objective of the Commission is to promote, facilitate, and coordinate the conduct and application of health research for the improvement of health and for the wellbeing of the people of East Africa.

 
OBJECTIVE OF THE CONSULTANCY

The Consultancy will undertake assessment of digital assets and capacity to support the establishment of Telemedicine in the six (6) East African Centres of Excellence (CoEs).  The CoEs has been set up across the region to provide specialized care to patients based on their relative areas of strength. However, CoEs are currently working in relative isolation. The Telemedicine aims to link CoEs and their specialists to address the need for timely, high-quality specialty medical care in partner states where such specialists may be lacking. Services will include patient care, education, research, and public health consultation and training. Telemedicine will connect CoEs with one another across the region, enabling medical practitioners to consult and share expertise. While establishing these networks, emphasis will also be put on transforming the CoEs into digital-driven training and research centers to provide state-of-the-art training to next generation health professionals and to conduct research.

The East African Health Research Commission invites eligible consultants to express their interest in providing “THE CONSULTANCY SERVICES TO UNDERTAKE ASSESSMENT OF DIGITAL ASSETS AND CAPACITY TO SUPPORT THE ESTABLISHMENT OF TELEMEDICINE IN THE EAST AFRICAN CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE” Interested consultants must provide all relevant information indicating their qualifications to provide the services and curriculum vitae which should include experience, technical and academic qualifications.
