EAC Resource Mobilisation Policy and Strategy |

The EAC Secretariat has engaged consultants to develop an EAC strategy for mobilising resources, whose key elements will include a clear EAC policy on mobilisation of funds, identified partners that support specific integration programmes in the region, regulations, instruments and a management structure to be used by EAC for accessing donor resources.
The specific objectives of the assignment include:
i) Development of a clear EAC Policy on mobilisation of donor funding. ii) Identification of priority areas to be targeted for resource mobilisation and map out the key donors that support specific integration programmes within the Eastern and Southern Africa Region iii) Development of regulations for mobilising donor resources iv) Development of instruments for mobilising donor resources v) Development of an EAC management structure and reporting channels to be used in accessing donor-resources vi) Establish a process for implementation of the strategy
Implementation Status
Data collection and consultations were held by the consultants in all Partner States and regional organisations (i.e. IGAD, COMESA, AU and SADC). An Inception Report was submitted to the Secretariat in March 2010 and a stakeholder’s consultative workshop is scheduled for July 2010.
The consultants hired to conduct the study are expected to submit a Final Draft Report on the EAC Resource Mobilisation Strategy and present a Business Plan of the Strategy. The consultancy is expected to be completed in the first quarter of the FY 2010/2011.
