The EAC Web Portal was launched on 25 June 2009 following an exercise to revamp the old EAC website that commenced in 2008. The Portal brings to the world wide web a wealth of locally-generated resources on the East African Community in particular and the East African region in general.

Hosted at http://www.eac.int, it is an entry point to all resources from the EAC that are available online and provides links to more than 25 standalone websites created for the Community’s various institutions, organs, sectors (directorates/departments) and key offices at the Secretariat. See EAC websites here

How to find what you're looking for

The EAC Web Portal is highly segmented for ease of management in recognition of the fact that the EAC's operations are continually growing. What this means is that content specific to a given sector will only be posted to the relevant sector website.

However, resources with cross-cutting relevance (e.g. press releases or reports) may be posted to all relevant websites. Some resources (e.g. photos and videos) are posted to centralised platforms for ease of access.

Applications

The EAC Web Portal points to a variety of online applications that include the EAC Library’s Reports database, EAC’s mail application and a database containing EAC Council decisions, to name but three.

Who manages the Portal

An in-house team comprised of web technology and communication specialists at the EAC Secretariat manages the EAC websites for all directorates/departments, organs and key offices. However, the websites of autonomous institutions of the EAC (e.g. EADB) are managed independently.

Our standards

The EAC websites hosted on the Portal have been developed in adherence to standard web design/accessibility guidelines, meaning visitors are assured of a seamless and user-friendly experience every time they access any of the websites that are a part of this Portal.

Effort has been made to ensure a consistent look and feel across all platforms, with specific emphasis placed on accuracy, currency and relevance of information/content for the EAC’s various publics.

Link exchanges

We welcome link exchanges with organisations whose mandate is similar to that of the EAC, or whose work complements EAC's own. To express your interest, click here.
